Rosie’s Sidekick Sandwich Shop & Catering has been providing the Chicagoland area with gourmet sandwiches, keto bowls, pizza bread and more for almost six years! This isn’t just a sandwich shop, but a labor of love by owner, Freddy Pecoraro.
Since 1968, the Pecoraro family has been providing delicious, homemade food to the northwest side of Chicago. Owner Freddy Pecoraro remembers being in the kitchen with his parents since he was five years old. He learned to cook at that young age from their original recipes. But he notes, “I’ve taken those classic recipes and put my spin on them. I want to create mouth-watering food that will satisfy the hungriest of appetites.”
When Freddy decided to open Rosie’s Sidekick Sandwich Shop, it was a labor of love. He wanted to honor the history of his families’ recipes, but continue to add new items that keep customers coming back for more.
A Labor of Love
The concept for Rosie’s Sidekick Sandwich Shop was simple – create a laid-back shop where anyone can come to get an enjoyable sandwich with ‘real’ bread that has only 6 ingredients and no preservatives. Even the Italian Beef and Meatballs are still made using the old-world recipes his parents brought over from Sicily in the 1960s using 100% Black Angus beef. Decades ago, the original northwest side bakery brought the OG Muffuletta sandwich to Chicago. Rosie’s Sidekick Sandwich Shop still has that delicious Muffuletta sandwich available every day.
Freddy takes the time to source only quality ingredients for his sandwiches, keto bowls, pizza bread, soups and desserts. If he won’t eat it, he’s not going to serve it to his customers. There are options for most appetites, from vegan and vegetarian, pescatarian, low carb, gluten-free and more.
Giving Back to the Community
Rosie’s Sidekick Sandwich Shop is also hyper-focused on giving back to the community. Whether it is for a block party, baseball team, teacher appreciation, emergency service appreciation, school supplies or backpack drives, or something else, Freddy wants the community to know he is here for them. “I don’t just work here; I live here too. Giving back to the community that has given to me is something that is extremely important.”

Rosie’s Sidekick Sandwich Shop also provides catering options for personal and business events. Growing up, having people come together around a meal was important to the Pecoraro family. Providing good food to help bring other people together brings Freddy joy. This isn’t just a business, it’s truly a labor of love.
