Our meatballs are prepared using cherished old-world recipes passed down through generations. These tender, gluten-free, all-beef meatballs are always baked, never fried, and are served with our signature homemade tomato basil sauce, delivering an authentic taste in every bite. Packed with flavor, these delicious meatballs will transport you back to Mama Rosie’s kitchen!
Slow-roasted using Black Angus beef, our homemade Italian beef has just the right amount of Italian seasonings to make the beef and the au jus pop, without being salty, like you find with a lot of chain restaurants.
These are recipes that Freddy has been crafting since he was a small boy in the kitchen learning from Mama Rosie. Back then, there were no preservatives – “fake food.” For as long as he can remember, his mom and dad have only been using the freshest ingredients for their recipes. He would help them chop the fresh vegetables and herbs to make delicious creations. The house always smelled wonderful from that homemade goodness! That’s what Freddy remembers and that’s what he continues to believe today!
Even when Freddy worked with Mama Rosie and Papa Joe at the bakery on the Northwest side of Chicago, they continued using the freshest ingredients to create amazing Sicilian delicacies for their customers.

At Rosie’s Sidekick Sandwich Shop, we continue that tradition of using fresh ingredients in our homemade products. In fact, we don’t use an seed oils, only imported Extra Virgin Olive Oil. We are diligent about using quality ingredients for ourselves and our customers.
We also take pride in our homemade soups, which are also made with the freshest, healthiest ingredients. From minestrone to lentil, tomato basil to chicken pozole, our soups are not only delicious but also offer numerous health benefits, including essential vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.
The homemade goodness doesn’t stop there! Our Eggplant Parmesan, Chicken Parmesan, house-roasted pork for our Cuban sandwich are all homemade – Freddy is always in the test kitchen creating something new and delicious to offer our customers!
Our commitment to homemade goodness extends to our desserts as well. We use the same recipe to make our cannoli that Freddy’s been using since he worked with Mama Rosie and Papa Joe at the bakery in Jefferson Park!
